PINE RIDGE TRAIL

Between Piney Woods and South Plateau Trail; 7/10 mile, 20 minutes.

View from Pine RidgeMonterey pine is the prominent tree in these open woods, but you will also see the coast live oak. You may surprise a few black-tailed deer, or discover signs that a western gray squirrel is at work overhead, pine cones stripped of their scales and dropped to the ground. More easily heard than seen, pygmy nuthatches and chestnut-backed chickadees twitter in the treetops.
