MARK FARINA  BIO

I grew up in upstate New York, spending summers in the Adirondacks where my father was a club golf professional. Naturally I aspired to play professional golf and attended Florida State University on a partial golf scholarship. I also liked to draw and was encouraged enough to major in art and art history. I spent six fantastic months in Florence, Italy studying art history my last semester of college.

I eventually settled down in California on the Monterey Peninsula, famous for its golf courses (Pebble Beach) and art community (Carmel-By The-Sea). I've resided here for the past two decades. I worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer up until the early 90's . I eventually transitioned to a full  time painter and part time art instructor.

I enjoy the challenge of painting a variety of subject matter, land/seascapes, architecture, still-life and the figure. Being an outdoor person living on the spectacular Monterey Peninsula, painting en plein air ( in the open air)  suits me to a tee.

I'm a member of the historic Carmel Art Association (estab.1927) ,
Artist member - California Art Club,
Artist Member of the Academic Artist Association,
Sinature Member - American Impressionist Society
and a Signature Member of Watercolor West.
