Point Lobos Foundation Privacy Policy

The Point Lobos Foundation (hereafter referred to as the “PLF”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This page sets forth the PLF’s policy about what personal information we gather about users of this Internet web site (the “Site”) and how we use that information.

1. Information We Collect On-line

The PLF collects e-mail addresses and other personally identifiable information about visitors who voluntarily submit information. For example, the Site uses forms for visitors to become members of the PLF or renew their memberships. The Site also requires user registration for certain functions of the Site, which requires submittal of personal information.  All information is collected and stored in a manner appropriate to the nature of the data.

We collect some or all of the following personal information: (a) name, (b) address, (c) PLF membership level, (d) amount of donation, (e) senior status, (f) waiver of membership benefits for tax purposes, (g) phone number, (h) e-mail address, (i) election to receive news and other notices by e-mail, (j) type of credit card, (k) credit card number, (l) expiration date of credit card, and (m) the frequency of payment of dues or donations (i.e. monthly, annually, etc.).

Although the PLF receives IP addresses of visitors to the Site through monitoring systems, it does not compile and retain records of the IP addresses of visitors to this website. Instead, the PLF collects information about traffic to its web-site, including such information as the number of visitors and the popularity of particular pages of the Site.

2. Information Sharing by the PLF

The PLF shares the personal information that it gathers on-line with the following kinds of persons and organizations: (a) environmental groups and (b) other non-profits whose missions and constituencies are similar to those of the PLF. The organizations that receive personal information from the PLF may use the information for their direct marketing and fund-raising campaigns.

Although the PLF does not sell personal information to credit card companies, it does provide personal information to credit companies in order to collect donations by persons who use credit cards to make donations and persons who purchase items on the Site by credit card.

3. The Right to Opt-Out

Persons who have provided personal information to the PLF may direct the PLF to withhold their personal information from outside organizations and persons through opt-out.

Persons who use credit cards to donate to the PLF or use credit cards to pay their membership dues or to pay for purchases made from the Site should note that the PLF must provide personal information to banks and credit card companies in order to collect the donations, dues or purchase. Therefore, persons who use credit cards for these purposes can “opt-out” of all disclosures of their personal information except those that the PLF must make in order to collect from banks and credit card companies.

The PLF provides its members with the opportunity to opt-out of having their personal membership information exchanged with other organizations. To opt-out, simply send us an email or letter via postal mail as follows:
