Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is a wonderful place to introduce your students or children to a variety of animals, birds and plants as well as geologic studies. Parents and teachers alike find the Reserve rich in opportunities for learning, from casual family visits to class field trips.

Unlike many state parks whose purpose is to provide a wide variety of recreational experiences or to preserve historic sites, Point Lobos was acquired primarily to preserve its rare and scenic beauty and unusual landscape. The natural conditions of Point Lobos make it necessary for teachers and parents to provide close supervision of their students or children at all times. Point Lobos is the perfect locale for children to observe marine mammals in their natural environment, study their various habitats and the unique flora and fauna, or visit the Whalers Cabin Museum and learn about the different people who lived at Point Lobos.
